I can't figure it out, why are all the delicious tidbits of news released on Friday just in time for me to go home?
Number one on the list is Microsoft's iPod killer. No, it's not the UMPC, it's some other mystery device. And no, no one has any idea what it's going to look like, but the ideas are intriguing. Get this:
To attract current iPod users Microsoft is going to let you download for free any songs you've already bought from the iTunes Music Store. They'll actually scan iTunes for purchased tracks and then automatically add those to your account.
Is that crazy or what?
Okay number two is New Apple iPod Designs. Not all of the devices represented will make it to market, in fact most of them are probably fakes. As for which is real, personally, I've got my money on the "none touch" iPod with the smooth face and no buttons.
Number three is good news for me and my UMPC here in Taipei. It's plans in Taipei for a wi-fi phone service that would work very well with my wifi enabled UMPC. I wonder what the rates are going to be like.
