On Friday I showed a few pictures of the ASUS T83, and today I am happy to say that I've got a few more details about what's inside of the device. It's a VIA C7-M processor running at 1.0 GHz on a VIA VX700 chipset, with 512 MB of RAM and a 40GB hard drive. It does have a GPS unit and a webcam above the screen as well as the full array of standard UMPC connectivity: Bluetooth, 802.11b/g, & LAN.

What's most impressive about this new design, is that it's fanless. ASUS has got all the thermals right and coupled it with a much cooler CPU resulting in a much quieter UMPC. Additionally, they are getting five hours of battery life on this device, much better than the 3 hours touted for Samsung's Q1 Ultra. The measurements for the T83 come in at 222mm x 156mm x 29mm and it weighs in at ~950 grams.

Oh yes, it also has a PCMCIA slot as well as a Kensington lock, which gives it a bit more value for the business user.
